LASIK

Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, or LASIK, is an outpatient surgical procedure that uses an excimer laser to reshape the eye’s cornea (the clear window in the front of the eye) to correct refractive errors. Refractive errors are problems with the way the eye focuses light, which cause nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), or astigmatism. LASIK is used to surgically correct refractive errors, rather than wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Wavefront-guided LASIK is an enhanced version of LASIK. It uses a special device to precisely measure the eye’s unique irregularities and variations as well as your need for corrective lenses. This procedure has been compared to taking a fingerprint of the eye. You may benefit from this customized approach.
We have two consultation options available:
If you are looking for more information on our Lasik process or procedure please call (850) 298-8410 to schedule your complimentary consultation with the laser vision coordinator. This meeting will last about 30 minutes and she will perform a vision test to check your candidacy for vision correction.
The second option is recommended for those people who, if after determining you are a candidate for lasik, are ready to have the procedure and want to have the additional testing completed as well as meet with Dr. Palmer to discuss which procedure is right for you. You will be in our office for about two hours for the complete consultation. This visit is included in the cost for your Laser Vision Correction.
Please note: To evaluate your candidacy you must not wear soft contact lenses three days prior to either option listed above, or if you wear hard 1lenses you must not wear them three weeks prior to your visit.
